Energy-wise netball

How cool would it be to meet one of your favourite sports stars and join them in a game of your favourite sport?

Ella Kelly enjoys a ball-handling drill. That’s exactly what happened in Denmark recently.

West Coast Fever players, Stacey Rosman and Andrea Gilmore showed keen netball players from Denmark schools a variety of the netball drills and activities used during their own training sessions.

The special clinic was organised as part of this year’s Western Power Country Day.

To encourage community awareness about energy use, each child at the netball clinic received compact fluorescent light globes to take home and lots of bright ideas about how to be an energy-wise kid.

Western Power also planted a tree for each netball player at the clinic. Did you know that each plant would help reduce carbon emissions each year equal to eight days of electricity use in an average home or 45 days of household waste?

With a focus on fun and participation, the country towns sport clinics aim to get more kids excited about and involved with sport and caring for their environment.
