Waffles
Socket has been busy taking cooking classes with Dale Sniffen and would love to share some of his favorite recipes with you. Make sure that you get Mum or Dad to help you in the kitchen.
Crispy Waffle Batter
Makes 6 Waffles
Preparation Time: 5-7 minutes
Cooking Time: 3 minutes each
Ingredients
- 2 eggs (60g), at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons caster sugar
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- Pinch of salt
- 2 cups (300g) self-raising flour
- 2 tablespoons corn flour
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Pinch of cream of tartar
Method
- Separate egg yolks and whites into two bowls.
- Combine egg yolks and sugar and beat until fluffy.
- Add milk, water and vanilla and mix well.
- Sift flour, salt and corn flour into large mixing bowl and then stir oil.
- Gradually add egg mixture to flour and beat until soft peaks form.
- Fold egg whites into batter mixture and allow to stand for 10 minutes.
- Heat non-stick waffle iron (or electric waffle maker). Once hot, pour 1/2 cup of batter for each waffle.
- Serve waffles with frozen double chocolate ice cream or whipped cream and fresh fruit.
