Shortcake with sweetened fruit!
Hey dudes! This is a great recipe to try out with mum, dad, or another adult.

Preparation time: 30 minutes.
Cooking time: 10 to 12 minutes.
Ingredients
- 250 grams of self-raising flour.
- 100 grams of softened unsalted butter.
- One and a half tablespoons of caster sugar.
- 50 millilitres of buttermilk (enough to make a soft dough).
- Two egg yolks.
- Sweetened strawberries or sliced, fresh fruit.
- Unchilled (room temperature) butter to serve with the shortcake.
- Whipped cream.
- Cookie sheet (20cm to 23cm)
Method
- Preheat your electric oven to 220 degrees Celsius.
- Place a sheet of baking paper over your cookie sheet.
- Pour the flour into a mixing bowl.
- Cut in the butter to the flour and stir (like making pastry) so that the flour looks like breadcrumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk and the egg yolks to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough for one minute on your baking paper, then roll the dough into a layer that is 2cm thick.
- Using a cookie cutter, turn the dough into little shortcakes that look like scones.
- Arrange your shortcakes on a cookie sheet and bake in a hot oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
- When they are still warm, split the shortcakes in half with a fork. Add butter, sweetened strawberries or fruit and whipped cream.
